Brandon Mathis is a freelance writer/photographer in Durango, Colorado. After nearly a decade of odd jobs at ski resorts bar tending and waiting tables, he pursued his education. A graduate of celebrated Fort Lewis College, Brandon studied Anthropology, Writing and History before working on site at archeological projects in Colorado and Utah.

Longing for adventure, he began traveling around the southwestern United States to find it. Now, writing full time, he primarily covers mountain sports and closley related issues, lifestyles and culture.

A love of nature, the outdoors, adrenaline and enthsuiasm has him on the go in many different capacities, from snowboarding and ice climbing, to bouldering, rock climbing and mountain biking.

Living in the Four Corners, where Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah meet, Brandon has access to several environments within a short drive, and finds inspiration from the places he goes and the people he meets.

Writing about and photographing his adventures is his passion, being healthy and able to enjoy the mountains and deserts in which he lives is his reward.

A regular contributor to The Durango Telegraph, Inside/Outside Southwest Magazine, The Mountain Gazette and various websites, Brandon has covered mountain biking, rock climbing, ice climbing, bouldering, snowboarding, split boarding, travel, river sports, as well as gear reviews, helathy lifstyles, diet and nutrtion, mountain living, travel, local personalities, social work, and history. He has also written for Climbing Magazine, and is a feature writer for Buzztown.com
